Facebook, Instagram delete Qandeel Baloch’s accounts without explanation

Internet sensation Qandeel Baloch, who quickly rose to fame after stirring a number of controversies on social and mainstream media, will now no longer be present on Facebook and Instagram – which is owned by the former – after her accounts on both platforms were deleted without explanation.

Facebook usually converts the account of a deceased individual into a memorialised account where loved ones can share memories on their timeline. However, despite her tragic killing, Qandeel’s account has not received the same privilege.

“Memorialised accounts are a place for friends and family to gather and share memories after a person has passed away,” states Facebook’s help center.

The reason behind the removal of her account is unknown, but it is likely that Facebook received requests for its deletion.

All that is left of Qandeel now on social media is her Twitter account.
